Prof. Rao was honored with the expert obtaining the special allowance of State Council, academic and technical leader in Sichuan province and outstanding expert with outstanding contribution to Sichuan province in 2024, 2021 and 2005 respectively. She received more than 30 research grants and published more than 170 papers, and acquired a third-class prize of progress of science and technology of Sichuan Province in 2012. He has been in charge of six NSFC grants and took part in two grants of the synthetic biology key project funded by the National Key Research and Development Plan. He has published over 80 SCI-indexed papers in journals such as Molecular Biology and Evolution, Nucleic Acids Research and Briefings in Bioinformatics. He then obtained a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Florida International University in the United States in 2013. Currently, he serves as a professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the School of Life <a href="javascript:void(0)" class="layui-mp-ext" alt="Science and Technology, UESTC. His research interests encompass intelligent rehabilitation engineering, affective computing, and portable medical devices. As the first author or last author, he has published nearly 20 papers in IEEE TBME, TNSRE, TAFFC, and JBHI, among which are representative works. His research has been highlighted by the editor-in-chief of IEEE JHBI, IEEE Reviews in BME, and human-computer interaction textbook (CRC Press). He once won the Sichuan Provincial Youth Medical Science and Technology Progress Award in 2021 (ranking first). As the project investigator, he has presided over projects including the General Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Youth Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Key Research and Development Program of Sichuan Province, and the Key International Cooperation Project of Chengdu. Additionally, he has played a pivotal role in key projects and major international collaboration projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. With a long-term commitment to international research collaboration and education, he has received accolades such as the UESTC International Cooperation Individual Award, Excellent Teacher for International Students, and Outstanding Teacher for Cultivating International Students.
